General Assembly 2009
The Presbytery of Hamilton has the honour of hosting the One Hundred and Thirty-Fifth General Assembly in June 2009.
The opening worship service of the General Assembly will be held at Redeemer University College in Ancaster on Sunday, June 7th., at 7:30 pm. The business sessions of the General Assembly will be held at McMaster University from Monday through Friday, June 8th.-12th. There will be a Banquet for Commissioners and the public on Monday evening, June 8th., at Michelangelo's.
A special Committee under the convenership of Marilyn Repchuck is already at work planning local hospitality on behalf of the Presbytery. They have begun the planning and have already identified a number of ways that people across the Presbytery will be able to help.
Congregations across the Presbytery are being asked to host fund raising events to assist with the cost of local hospitality. They also need people to serve on the fundraising team.
During the time of the Assembly there will be a need for a whole host of volunteers. There is a need for congregations to host early arriving Commissioners at their worship services on the morning of June 7th. Also, throughout the week there will be a need for cookies, etc., for the Commissioner's hospitality area. A list of required volunteer services has now been compiled. Prospective volunteers are being invited to fill out a volunteer registration form that is to be returned by February 28th., 2009. Volunteer response forms may be submitted via the congregational Representative Elder. The necessary information and registration form is appended as a PDF file. Simply click on General Assembly Volunteer Registration Information., print out the form, fill it out and return it as directed. Volunteers are encouraged to register early so that those arranging hospitality will be assured of the support of the congregations and people of the Presbytery.
